Greetings. We hope this update finds you well. We have had an eventful month or so. In the last week of September, Efraim commuted up to London to do a Prince 2 course and exam, he is now a registered Project Manager. It was well worth doing, as the system is very different to the American PMI model he previously worked with. Efraim has now started work with Opportunity International. He had a baptism by fire as it were immediately flying out to Mombasa in Kenya on the 29th September for a management conference where he was able to meet with 60 people from the management of OI. He then flew on to Nairobi, Tanzania (Dar es Salaam), and Mozambique (Maputo). He was able to meet the various country teams and some of the work they do. The photo shows pupils from a school in a slum area of Kenya, which has been able to expand due to the help of OI. The gentleman in the other photo has been able to expand his little stall with a micro-finance loan which has enabled him to build a home and school his family. Please pray for Efraim as he continues to adapt to his new work environment, and work out his new job role. His will be in Uganda from 6-15th November. When he is in the UK he splits his time between the office in Oxford and working from home. Ruth has had a busy term so far working on two MA modules, (Development Management and Theology of Mission), she has completed the academic presentations for both and now has 10,000 words worth of assignments to complete over the next few months. She has had to step up as the registered leader for Bishops Stortford Le Leche League breastfeeding group because the previous leader is preparing to retire. There are three ladies working through the training which she hopes will be qualified by the time we move over to Thame, Oxfordshire in April. We are attending a lovely church called Christ Church, and really enjoying still being part of the All Nations Christian College community. It is a very supportive community for Ruth and Max whilst Efraim travels. The recent storms left us without power for two days. Max was delighted when the crèche was cancelled and many of his little friends came to our living room for two days of informal babysitting, whilst lectures continued. At the moment Max’s little world revolves around trains, especially Thomas the tank engine, he is growing up so fast. Thank you so much for your continued prayers at this sensitive time as we adjust to Efraim’s new job role and juggle our busy lives. |
